2012 News

Fifty anglers showed up at M&M Campground in Clearlake Oaks on April 28th & 29th for the 12th annual Bass-N-Tubes Clear lake Open. Mother nature smiled on us this year and the weather was perfect for bass fishing.

Day 1 saw some big bags come to the scale.
Taylor Capilla would lead at the end of the day with a huge sack of bass weighing in at 25.00 pounds of bass. Second on the day one leader board was SCBBBC angler Deren Kozenko with 22.73 pounds for his best five. Scott Beem would hold down the third position with 21.94 pounds. Fourth would be Binh Phi with 20.50, and two time open champ Carson Riley rounded out the day one top five flippin a jig to weigh in 20.13 pounds. The day one big fish was a fat 7.87 pound bass caught by Jon Bird. Jon's Big fish would eventually take home the trophy for big fish of the tourney
.

Day 2 dawned to even better weather than day one as the anglers made the way to their spots in the early morning light.
At the end of the day it was Taylor Capilla fishing the Berkeley Havoc Pit Boss and a Senko to score another big sack at 21.16 pounds to seal the win with 45.66 pounds of Clear Lake bass. Taylor also had the day two big fish with a 5.85 pounder while on the way to setting a new Open record for total weight , beating the old mark of 43.50 pounds set by Tim Zanbergen in 2007.
Carson Riley came in with 18.89 pounds on day 2 sight fishing with a Storm 4" swimbait for a total weight of 39.02 pounds to take home second place. Finishing the weekend in third place was Mitch Teman, who fished consistently both days to end up with 37.28 pounds of Clear Lake bass. Fourth place would go to Marcus Werner with 35.22 pounds to finish off his weekend. Rounding out the top 8 paying positions were, 5th place Andy Mercado with 34.59 pounds, Mike Ayers in 6th with 34.29 pounds, Dan Chester had 34.24 for 7th and Scott Beem took 8th with 33.56 pounds of fish for the two days.

Congratulations to all the top finishers and thank you to the SCBBBC and everyone else who comes out to fish with us.

Bass-N-Tubes would also like to thank all of our great sponsors for supporting us.
